Judaism Unbound Asked Me About...
Camp Tawonga's B'nai Mitzvah Program and the future of all things b mitzvah
When I’m not here on substack writing to you all about life, love, and Torah, you can most likely find me working on Camp Tawonga’s Bar, Bat, & B’nai Mitzvah Program. Over the last 5+ years, for this program, I have served as a Manager, Assistant Director, Lead Educator, Service and Song Leader, private Tutor, curriculum writer, illustrator, and everything in between. This program has kept me up late at night (shushing kids on a weekend overnight or stressing about something or other) and woken me early in the morning (too many reasons to list). It has encouraged me to read endless chapters, books, and articles about the history of B’nai Mitzvah, and listen to many podcasts about where this tradition is headed.
Today, I’m thrilled to share with you a conversation I had with Judaism Unbound all about Tawonga’s approach to bringing the magic of summer camp into this rite of passage.
